Start with Vegetables

Most children would normally neglect vegetables due to the fact that it’s quite unappealing to young taste buds.  They would obviously prefer those so called “junk foods” and other unhealthy foods since the taste and the achievement of satisfaction from these edibles are mainly their interests.  No wonder manufacturers of such things never go out of business.  Now if I think about it, this practice should highly be focused on and should be given solutions anytime soon because it will only lead to unwanted results if left unresolved.
It would be very difficult to stop the production of innutritious foods but we can promote to everyone the alternative answer which could already be the best solution.  In my own opinion, the one thing that should highly be dealt with is the answer instead of just thinking about the problem itself.  In this case, nutritious edibles such as vegetables should be our main concern especially towards children who very much dislike them.
As a matter of fact, the Nutrition Month’s theme for this July 2012 is “Pagkain ng gulay ugaliin, Araw-araw itong ihain” which pertains to vegetables being the sovereign meal of everyone’s daily consumption.  This is a great way to start engaging children to consume vegetables in an amount far greater than those unhealthy ones.  Another method that could also be of great help is being creative with them.  Producing different snacks or others that children would find appealing through creative use of vegetables.  In fact, commercial products containing satisfying amount of vegetables within them are being sold nowadays which is a wonderful beginning in the said method for vegetables.  There are other ways to make children like vegetables and like it or not the right time to do them would be possibly now.
It’s no doubt that all parents want the best for their children especially when it comes to proper nutrition so it is very vital to make them love vegetables.  It should be a part of their daily meals in order for them to get the needed nutrients everyday for the entire body.  So from now on, we should always bear in our minds that getting the proper nutrition shall pave the way to better lives for all of us and starting with vegetables would only mean ending with famous titles.

A Letter of Realization

Dear President Aquino,
Greetings sir!  I would just like to congratulate each and every one of you sitting up there trying to make our country as progressive as any other nation out there and lifting it up as well with the rest.  There’s no doubt that the responsibility you have been endowed with is such a heavy load and the huge honour you have been carrying is undeniably vital but still, for someone like you who willingly accepted the position, it would not be much of a problem.  Yet,  let me just say one thing sir, that during those past few years where Philippines has already been under your reign, I have not felt anything being improved, being resolved and most likely being done.  Well, at least in my own personal view of your accomplishments in our society nowadays.
Sir, I’m not talking as if I have the authority of saying things in such a manner but I’m just speaking as a common citizen of our autonomous country.  I’m just like any other people out there wanting to freely let out what I really feel about your administration due to the fact that I also have the right to speak it all out and to let you know sir that it has been years since our country craved for life changing progressions.  Most of us sought for a leader that would fulfil that aspiration but those who stood in that position only took it halfway while others made nothing.  Right now, I want these scenarios to be different and to be more satisfying- I want an effective leader.  So let me ask you this question sir, are you the one we have been looking for?  Are you that effective leader?
Sir I know that it’s a bit early to respond to that question since you had only yet spent a third of your official term but you had accomplished many things during that time though.  Now, the projects and programs you had already implemented sir and based also on my observations, had only dealt with problems that should not be the ones being prioritised at the moment or let’s say the real problems here are not the ones being given solutions instead other matters that could possibly wait for a while to be solved are the ones being focused on.  Many of your resolutions did do the job sir but the main problem is still left behind just waiting to be uncovered and also, sorry to say this to you sir, but I sometimes doubt your skills of being the president.
Another reason that also made me think twice about you sir is that whenever I see you in television specifically, during news broadcasts, the one thing I can see would always hint me about your love life.  Whenever you’re going out with a new girl with privacy or even in public and others.  I would always say this in my mind whenever I saw you just like that “Is he even doing anything?”
Now you know sir that what you had already accomplished is not yet in the satisfactory level of many people.  They need to see more changes and that is what I also want.  Changes in the sense that even I, who’s just a small part of this institution would see it happen.  Even through my own personal view of things in our small world would see it change.  But just like what I had said sir, I don’t have the authority to judge you but I have the right to say the things I feel about you.  Well, thank you though for being our current leader.  I just hope you would concentrate more on what really matters in the world.
By the way, I’m Earle Culeen Betita, 15 years old and a fourth year student of Ilocos Sur National High School.  Thank you once again and good day.
